What is one Core Competency your state Flex Program is working on developing through Flex activities?
Core Competency: Managing Information and Evaluation
In response to the 2024-2029 Flex structural requirements, the West Virginia State Office of Rural Health (WVSORH) Flex Program and its partners are focused on integrating relevant data and metrics into planned quality, financial, and population health projects. This will allow for meaningful analysis of short-term, intermediate, and long-term outcomes associated with our collaborative efforts. Evaluation of our work is prioritized from the early discussion stages of potential projects throughout implementation.
What is one activity your state is funding through SHIP?
To address the challenges healthcare organizations will face with the implementation of ICD-11 and help mitigate concerns that small rural hospitals may have regarding changes in methodology. The 2024-2025 Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) grant will offer readiness assessment and transition planning around ICD-11, guidance and direction on the process and best practices to follow when implementing changes. A written review will be provided on the hospital’s ICD-11 position that will center on a small set of actionable recommendations to improve accuracy, mitigate barriers to ease and optimize the transition to ICD-11. This activity includes ongoing technical assistance throughout the project to ensure recommendations are implemented.
