What is one Core Competency your state Flex Program is working on developing through Flex activities?

Selected Core Competency: Improving Financial Sustainability

The California Flex Program hosted its first annual Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Finance Workshop in 2024. This workshop provided information on grant writing and cost reports. We have received positive feedback and have decided to conduct an annual financial/operational improvement workshop to continue to support our CAHs by helping them develop new skills and access resources to support their finances and operations.

What is one activity your state is funding through SHIP?

The California SHIP Program provided funding to a hospital to support a seamless transition to a new medical record system, allowing the hospital to begin collecting population health data for its patients. The implementation of the new medical record system required support for provider and staff training to assist in the new documentation requirements.
